Maltipoo Group

Every purebred dog recognized by the American Kennel Club fits into one particular group. There are eight of these groups, and they include:

1. Sporting
2. Hound
3. Working
4. Terrier
5. Toy
6. Non-sporting
7. Herding
8. Miscellaneous

As you may or may not know, the Maltipoo is not a purebred dog; it is a cross between a Poodle and a Maltese. For this reason, it does not fit into any of the eight groups listed above. But with that being said, it is safe to say that the Maltipoo would fit in most closely with the dogs in the toy group. The reasons for this are simple. First off, the Maltipoo is similar in size to the other dogs in this group. Additionally, both the Poodle and the Maltese are toy dogs. So of course, it would only make since for the Maltipoo to be the same.

Even though the Maltipoo is not a purebred dog, it is more or less a member of the toy group. The only thing holding this back from being official is that the Maltipoo is not recognized by the American Kennel Club.
